Incivility in nursing education doesn’t stay in the classroom—it follows graduates into clinical practice. The behaviors we tolerate during training often become the culture of the workplace.

If you’ve ever wondered how to respond to uncivil behavior while maintaining professionalism and protecting learning environments, this conversation is for you.

Join us for an honest dialogue about the challenges nurse educators face—and how we can work together to create stronger professional cultures in nursing.

In this Real Talk discussion, nationally recognized nurse educators Dr. Nicole Heimgartner and Dr. Cherie Rebar join Dr. Daniel Flores to explore how incivility shows up across nursing education and clinical environments—and what educators can realistically do about it.

Together, they will examine the root causes behind uncivil behaviors, including fear, staffing shortages, and the normalization of toxic workplace dynamics. The conversation will also address challenges faculty face in clinical partnerships, the gap in professional identity formation among nursing students, and the long-term impact on patient care and team culture.

Participants will leave with practical communication strategies for addressing difficult interactions, reframing conflict constructively, and reinforcing professional identity in both classroom and clinical settings.

This session will offer honest conversation, shared experiences, and actionable insights for nurse educators committed to strengthening professional culture in nursing.
